Aberavon MP Supports Glyncorrwg Campaigners
8th June 2007
Aberavon MP, Dr Hywel Francis, has lent his support to Glyncorrwg residents fighting plans for a new wind farm near their homes.
The plans, proposed by Cardiff based firm Eco2, would see four 410ft turbines erected at Corrwg Fechan, Glyncorrwg, and replace previous plans for a larger 6 turbine wind farm at the site.
Campaigners against the wind farm, led by Glyncorrwg Action Group, have expressed their dissatisfaction with the way Eco2 have announced their plans, stating that the company had not sent letters outlining the proposals to all the houses in the village and that many residents only heard of the plan through reading planning notices on lampposts in the village.
The Group are now calling for further consultation with Eco2 and an exhibition detailing the new proposals.
Dr Francis said,
"Many residents in Glyncorrwg are greatly concerned about the effect these 410ft turbines will have on their village and feel that Eco2 have not consulted them on their proposals as fully as they would like. Given the long-standing and well-documented opposition to plans for a wind farm at the Corrwg Fechan site, I urge Eco2 to keep Glyncorrwg residents and the Glyncorrwg Action Group fully informed of all developments, and to hold further consultation and an exhibition illustrating the new plans."
