Aberavon MP Visits Young Baglan Bookworms
19th June 2007
Aberavon MP, Dr Hywel Francis, recently visited Baglan Primary School to mark the official opening of the school's new library. As part of the ceremony Dr Francis and the children enjoyed listening to Mr Clive Bisco, Manager of Neath Port Talbot's Education Library and Resources Service, who thoroughly entertained everybody with a story telling session.
In opening the library Dr Francis said, "I have a close affinity and warm affection for this school. I am always delighted to visit and take part in occasions such as this." Dr Francis told of a poem he had read in which a book is compared to a bridge. "It can be a bridge to the past, to the future or to another place."
The library has high quality fittings and furnishings along with a state of the art computerised book borrowing system. Head Teacher, Mr Shaun Davey, said, "It is wonderful to have a distinguished visitor such as Dr Francis to open this excellent facility. The pupils were thrilled with the occasion and are now excited and keen to begin using the library."
