Energy Minister Praises Young People’s 'Green' ideas
24th October 2009
Energy Minister, Ed Miliband MP on a recent visit to Port Talbot praised local young people and the local steel plant for enthusiastically embracing green ideas and green strategies.
Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis who organised the visit stated,
‘The Secretary of State was impressed by the commitment of management and unions at the local plant to reducing the carbon footprint particularly their hopes of a Margam New Mine.’
At a policy forum involving local businesses, unions, community groups, schools and universities the Minister emphasized that because of the seriousness of the climate change challenge, all renewable sources of energy had to be seriously considered.
Dr Francis added,
‘The commitment of local schools to better understand the threat to the planet and their enthusiasm for taking action themselves including building their own wind turbine was something which the Minister warmly praised.’
