Hospital Denial

Aberavon AM Dr Brian Gibbons and Hywel Francis MP have today expressed their outrage at the totally baseless lies being pedalled about Neath Port Talbot hospital by the Tories in Aberavon.
In a leaflet that has been posted throughout the constituency Tory candidate for Aberavon TJ Morgan says that Neath Port Talbot hospital is to be closed thanks to the Labour Party.
Dr Francis and Dr Gibbons said; “The leaflet put out by the Tory candidate for Aberavon in the forthcoming Assembly election said that the local hospital is about to close, this is simply not true.
“It was only a few weeks ago that we meet with ABMU Chief Executive David Sissling to discuss the hospitals future. At that meeting he reaffirmed the position that Neath Port Talbot Hospital has an important role to play in delivering health services in the area.
“On seeing this leaflet we wrote again to Mr Sissling to see if there had been a dramatic shift in ABM’ position and he has confirmed in his reply that this is not the case.
“In all our years in politics we have never seen such a falsehood written on a leaflet produced by a mainstream political party.
“We will be asking the Electoral Commission to take a view on this issue.
“Unfortunately there constantly seems to be some sort of rumours about the future of NPT hospital and it is now clear where some of these dangerous unfounded rumours begin. Such sentiments only cause unnecessary concern for patients and staff and this scaremongering is totally unacceptable when being pedalled by a mainstream political party.
“TJ Morgan should either show us the evidence to back up his wicked scaremongering or he should apologies to the people of Aberavon for lying to them”.
