MP to lecture on 1926

Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis will give a free public lecture at Cymmer in the Afan valley in his constituency next Friday evening 29th June at 7.00pm. The event will take place at the English Methodist Chapel in Brytwn Road, Cymmer.
Dr Francis said,
‘I am pleased to give this lecture in the Upper Afan Valley which played such a big part in the 1926 General Strike and Miners’ Lockout. The lecture is based on my research forty years ago at Swansea University when I tape-recorded many local inhabitants including the late Glyn Williams, President of the South Wales Miners in the 1960s and 1970s.
I hope to show a film I made with the late Patrick Hannan of the BBC which includes interviews with Glyn Williams and many other people.’
