MP backs Burton 10k Race

Aberavon MP Dr Hywel Francis has given his full backing to the continuation of the Richard Burton 10k Race.
Dr Francis said
‘I am delighted that the Richard Burton 10k Race at Cwmafan is to continue. The event has long been one of the most popular occasions in the Welsh sporting calendar. I am pleased to give my full support and I welcome the warm endorsement of Richard’s brother Graham on behalf of the family. I also wish to thank Tata Steel for their strong support as well as the local authority, Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.’.
‘The success over the years owes so much to local volunteers and race participants who have sustained it so well. Stalwarts like Shaun Tobin continue to be prominently involved.’
‘As Chair of Swansea University’s Richard Burton Advisory Board I am pleased with the strong engagement by the University which is doing so much to perpetuate the memory of Richard Burton in the locality.’
‘An exhibition from the Richard Burton Archives will be on display at the Cwmafan Community Centre to coincide with the Race in November.’
